Delta brokers peace accord between warring Kwale youths

8 September, 2011, Sweetcrude, ASABA- DELTA State Government on Tuesday successfully brokered a peace accord between warring youths in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of state.
The trouble-shooting, which culminated in the warring parties signing a peace accord was coordinated by the Commissioner, Directorate of Youth Development, Hon. Ebifa Ijomah.
The peace meeting and signing of the agreement was the climax of several interventions and meetings between the warring factions and the commissioner to quell the restiveness in the town.
A copy of the undertaking, which was signed by the leaders of the warring factions, was handed over to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO Kwale Division for appropriate documentation.
 In his opening address at the tripartite meeting that resulted in the agreement to cease all forms of hostilities and violence, Commissioner Ijomah reminded the youths that no meaningful development would be achieved in an atmosphere of rancour and violence.
He stated that the government of Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan required an atmosphere devoid of crises in order to achieve its lofty objectives for the youths in the state, and urged them to be united and peaceful in their approach to issues affecting them, rather than resort to violence.
The Commissioner noted that the Delta State Governor had always demonstrated his appreciation of the youths by appointing them into positions, and one of which was of himself as Commissioner for Youth Development.
In his remarks,  ASP Ofem,  who represented the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Kwale Division, thanked the commissioner the commendable move of restoring peace in Kwale and assured him that the Police was ready to work hand in hand with the directorate  in matters affecting  youths in Kwale.
