Edo youths want indegene in NPDC management

26 October 2011, Sweetcrude, Benin City—The Niger Delta Youth Movement (NDYM), Edo State chapter has lamented the alleged non-inclusion of an indigene of the state in the management team of the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) despite the location of the company in Benin City, the state capital.

State chairman of NDYM, Edun Ogunbor and Secretary, Nosayaba Asemota, said in a statement: “We have been sidelined in the entire activities thereby placing the Edo people at a disadvantage position. This action is already generating trouble amongst the youth, who felt cheated, therefore, we want the error to be corrected”.

They appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan and the National Assembly to urgently, “wade into the quandary and field an Edo indigene as part of the management team so as to represent the interest of the Edo people”.

They also said the interest of Edo people would be better represented by an indigene that knows the state very well and understands the people and their problem better.
