Minister of Petroleum Resources visits Nigerdock, Jagal

10 February 2012, Sweetcrude, Abuja – The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke will on Monday, February 13, 2012 visit Nigerdock in Snake Island and LADOL Free Zone, Tarkwa Bay, Lagos, two key Local content facilities to take stock of current capacity available in Nigeria to execute industry projects and operations using local human and material resources as prescribed in the Nigerian Content Act.

The visits are part of the planned physical assessments of key local content facilities across the country, which was flagged off on January 24th 2012 with the visit of the Minister to the SCC Pipe mill, Abuja.

The delegation of the Minister to Nigerdock and LADOL will include Chief Executive Officers of international and indigenous operating oil companies, service companies as well as top officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

The visits are confirmations of Government’s firm implementation of the Nigerian Content Act which places emphasis on local capacity building, employment generation and spend retention.

Government has also assured that every facility set up in the country would be fully utilized by the industry before sending work abroad.

When Mrs. Madueke visited SCC, she directed the Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board to work with operating oil and gas companies to evaluate existing machine shops, dock yards, fabrication yards and other facilities which can be upgraded to meet industry specifications.
