Total renews MoU with host communities

10 April 2012, Sweetcrude, PORT HARCOURT – TOTAL Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited (TEPNG) has renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with three communities in Rivers State.

The agreement, which sets the standard for partnership between the company and its host communities, is aimed at improving the livelihood of people of the communities and ensuring peace.

The company in 2008 signed an MoU with Andoni, Mgbuesilaru and Rebesi communities, all in Rivers State, but, has failed to implement the agreement.

The community leaders regretted that the inability of the company to execute the agreement has hampered development and affected cordial relationship between the company and their communities.

At the partnership renewal meeting in Port Harcourt, a representative of Mgbuesilariu community in Port Harcourt Local Council, Eze Ejike Wali, expressed the view that the renewal of the MoU will see Total putting into action its plans for the communities.
