18 April 2012, Sweetcrude, YENAGOA—ACTION Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has warned that a resurgence of militancy in the Niger Delta could spell doom for the country, especially as the nation’s security forces battle to quell the Boko Haram insurgency in the Northern part of the country.

ACN Publicity Secretary in Bayelsa State, Mr. Christopher Abariowei, said this in a statement in Yenagoa, following threats by Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, to intensify attacks on oil facilities in the creeks of the Niger Delta.

The party condemned the incessant attacks on the Agip Tebidaba-Brass pipeline by armed groups operating in the Niger Delta, describing same as sad and capable of truncating the gains of the last four years.

  • Shell is not a stand alone case of atrocities by MNCs, prlitculaary oil and chemical majors. UOP is still shirking its responsibility of bhopal gas tragedy in India. This and the UOP case just goes on to show how these companies can bend laws and bribe people in power to get their ends met. Ken Saro Wiwa is a sad story, lets hope he finally gets justice.
