14 May 2012, Sweetcrude, ABUJA - Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan says the country is currently building 10 power plants most of which are near completion,

Represented by Vice President Namadi Sambo at a reception in honour of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, in Mayo-Kalaye, Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa at the weekend, the president said: “Most of the power plants have been completed, awaiting commissioning, while others are at completion stages.”

He expressed regret that power generation has remained a major problem in the country, stating that plans had been concluded for the construction of the Mambilla Plateau and Zungeru power plants that will generate a combined 703,000 megawatts of electricity.
