24 July 2012, Sweetcrude, ABUJA — CHAIRMAN, House of Representatives Committee on Inter-Parliamentary Affairs, Daniel Reyenieju, has assured Nigerians that the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, before the National Assembly would be thoroughly scrutinised before its passage by the legislators.

Also, Chudi Uwazuirike, representing Imo State, assured that the bill will be given all the necessary attention and screening before finally passed into law.

Reyenieju dropped the hint while speaking with newsmen, saying “Nigerians’ hope and aspiration from the PIB, when it becomes law, will remain the guiding principle of the House, and thus the House will fully scrutinise the bill using all possible prisms of analysis and contextualized international best practices to fulfill this onerous task.”

  • These assurances matter little or nothing to Nigerians and this is because the House of Representatives, nay lawmakers cut the picture of brigands whose sole purpose and intention is to plunder the till to the ruin of the country. We advise that if the lawmakers expect to be taken seriously, they forget about trying to grab news headlines and focus their attention on actual law making and oversight function that adds value.
