Rep lauds military over destruction of illegal refineries in Delta

06 September 2012, Sweetcrude, WARRI—THE reported destruction of multiple refineries by Joint Task Force, JTF, operatives in Ode-Ugborodo and some adjoining communities has been applauded by a House of Representatives member, Mr. Daniel Reyenieju.

He said the accomplishment by the security agencies should be extended to other parts of the Niger Delta region, where the unholy act seemed to be most pronounced.

Reyenieju, member of the House Committee on Illegal Bunkering, expressed shock at the upsurge in illegal refineries in the area, which he said had wreaked untold environmental devastation on the eco-system.

He said: “The House has been most worried over illegal bunkering and refineries, and this necessitated the House resolution condemning illegal bunkering in its totality and urging the Nigerian state to take all necessary steps to put an end to it.”

I do not see this as interesting though, it brings us back to the song by Fela Kuta, where he said ”na the burn burn na im dey sweet dem pass”
what is wrong in licensing these small scale refineries & have them assuage the local consumption demands that our nation is yet to deliver on, as it also creates employment for the restive youths… My thoughts !
