US demands information on Nigeria’s Excess Crude Account

16 November 2012, Sweetcrude, ABUJA – THE United States has asked for information from the Nigerian goverment on how it has been managing the Excess Crude Account.

The US Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, OAGF, said in a statement that Mr. Douglas P. Climan of the American Embassy made the demands when he called on Nigeria’s Accountant General of the Federation, AGF, Mr. Jonah Otunla, in his office at Treasury House, Abuja.

The diplomat told the AGF that he came to the Treasury House to understand the budgeting and the operation of Federation Account.

Climan said he would also like to know how ECA withdrawals are made, and how the unspent balance of capital is managed.

After listening to the AGF, the diplomat expressed optimism that the 2013 budget will be passed before the end of 2012 fiscal year.

  • This sounds crazier than fiction. It is only when a country has sold itself cheap, through conducts completely lacking integrity that other countries begin to dride and question it. The demand by the US is a clear interference in the internal affairs of Nigeria, but we don’t blame them because we want to believe that Nigerian government officials must have set the stage for such inquest through highly questionable activities.

  • What happened to Nigeria’s sovereignty? Well d country isn’t worth being sovereign.
