Monarch warns Pan Ocean over location of flow station

23 November 2012, Sweetcrude, BENIN CITY — THE Obi of Abavo kingdom in Delta State, HRM, Uche Irenuma 11, has warned the management of Pan Ocean Oil Corporation, not to cause crisis in the 56 oil producing communities in Delta North Senatorial District of the state by ensuring that the proposed flow station is sited in Obiayima community as earlier agreed.

In a letter addressed to the Managing Director of the company signed by the monarch, he expressed shock that despite the agreement reached with all the stakeholders in OPL275, that the flow station will be sited in Obiayima community “it is now being moved to Owa Alidinma, a neighboring community which has no oil and gas deposit”.

The letter explained that “removing the flow station from Obiayima a community with numerous oil wells to Owa Alidinma a community without a single drop of oil is still very difficult to believe.”

  • We wonder what Pan Ocean’s reason for reneging on such an outstanding agreement could be.

  • Obi Ayima community is making so much trouble and giving Pan Ocean so much head-ache. They even killed their paramount ruler over the issue. Pan Ocean has a right to relocate its flow station to anywhere of its choice for administrative convenience and where it finds peace. The Obi of Abavo should go and explain to his people what he did with the N15million Pan Ocean paid to him. He should not also forget that he gave Pan Ocean an indemnity letter. The people of the community have been FULLY COMPENSATED. What else do they want? People should not try to use the press because they have access to it.
