Indonesia to offer shale gas blocks in 2013

27 December 2012, Sweetcrude, Jakarta – The Indonesian government will offer areas for shale gas development in 2013 through regular tenders, according to a statement on the Ministry of Energy website.

The initial 6 blocks on offer will include four in Kalimantan and two in South Sumatra, Reuters reported.

Indonesia has an estimated shale gas potential of 574 trillion cubic feet, more than coalbed gas at 453.3 tcf and natural gas at 334.5 tcf, the government disclosed.
