The oil-directed rig count rose by nine for a total of 1412, while the gas-directed rig count slipped by four for a total of 350.
Texas gained the most this week, adding seven rigs for a total of 838.
The Eagle Ford shale in South Texas had six more rigs drilling this week for a total of 308. The Permian added five for 400.
New Mexico lost one for 77.
Louisiana lost two for 106. Mississippi came in down one for 12.
Arkansas was flat on 15.
Oklahoma was up two for 190. Kansas was flat on 28.
Colorado was flat on 63. Wyoming lost one for 40. Utah was flat on 29.
North Dakota gained two for 176. Montana shed one for 10.
Pennsylvania lost one for 59. West Virginia lost one for 23. Ohio was flat on 32.
California was flat on 41. Alaska was flat on eight.
