NCP shortlists 11 firms for Kaduna Disco, Afam Power

Atedo Peterside28 May 2013, Abuja – The National Council on Privatisation has selected 11 successful bidders for the two Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, companies – Afam Power Plc and Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company Plc.
Chairman, NCP’s Technical Committee, Mr. Atedo Peterside, told State House correspondents at the end of a meeting that seven out of the 11 firms that bid for Kaduna emerged successful.

The successful bidders include Axis Power Distribution Limited, NAHCO Consortium, Incar Power Limited, Aiteo Consortium, LEDA Consortium, Northwest Power Limited and Copperbelt Consortium.

He stated that for Afam, four of the nine bidders were successful and had moved to the evaluation stage.

These are Primeniza Energy Limited, Televas Group, Forby Energy Limited and TES Power Limited.

According to him, all the successful bidders had been invited to the financial bid opening stage.

Peterside said, “It will be recalled that in accordance with the approved transition timeline for Kaduna Disco, a total of 11 bids were received as of April 16.

“Like Afam Genco, the evaluation was also conducted between April18 and 28 by two teams of right evaluators with representations from the BPE, NERC, Ministry of Power, CPCS, NIAF and Nexant.

“The pre-condition for any bidder to qualify for the commercial bidding stage, according to the technical committee, is that it has to score 75 per cent, although the committee will continue conducting due diligence to further cross check the information provided by the successful bidders.”

THE NCP also deliberated on the approval of the technical evaluation report for the selection of the liquidator for the Nigerian Telecommunication Limited and its mobile subsidiary, MTel.

Peterside said three firms had been shortlisted for a mini financial bid for a guided liquidation of NITEL.

He, however, did not disclose the names of the companies, saying it was against the rule of the transaction to do so.

The meeting presided over by Sambo was attended by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Yerima Ngama; Minister of Transport, Senator Idris Umar; and Acting Director-General, Bureau of Public Enterprises, Mr. Benjamin Dikki.
