Nasarawa Govt inaugurates N91m electrification projects

Power Transmission30 May 2013, Lafia – The Nasarawa State Government says it has spent about N91 million on electrification in Adogi and Assakio communities in Lafia Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Umaru Al-Makura stated this while inaugurating rural electrification projects in the communities.

He said that the projects were in fulfilment of the administration’s policy thrust aimed at sustaining government’s effort to open the rural areas.

He said that the policy on integrated rural development had encapsulated the provision of electricity to rural communities.

He said that government had made notable investment in the areas of electricity supply to urban and rural communities.

“We have so far procured and installed 38 electricity transformers to boost power supply in Lafia and other cities across the state,” the governor said.

He frowned at the degree of infrastructure decay and absence of basic facilities in the urban and rural areas.

He said the administration would address infrastructure deficiencies and urged the communities to safeguard and protect the facilities against vandalism.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the inauguration of the projects was part of activities that marked the two years of Al-Makura administration in the state.
