US rig count falls by 11

International-Rig-Count-Up29 June 2013 – The number of rigs drilling in the US fell by 11 this week for a total of 1748, according to data from Houston-based services giant Baker Hughes.

Oil-directed rigs took a hit, losing 15 for a total of 1390.

Gas-directed rigs, meanwhile, got a small boost, adding four for a total of 353 and pulling off an 18-year low hit last week. It was the first gain for gas rigs in six weeks.

Texas was the big loser this week, shedding 11 rigs to total 832. The Eagle Ford was down one on 298. The Permian basin lost six rigs for a total of 392.

New Mexico was up on on 76.

Louisiana lost three rigs, down to 103. Arkansas was flat on 14. Mississippi lost one for 10.

Oklahoma lost five for 173. Kansas gained two for 30.

Colorado was up one for 63. Wyoming gained three for 49. Utah lost one for 33.

North Dakota was down three on 175. Montana was flat on 10.

West Virginia gained three for 25. Ohio gained two for 32. Pennsylvania was flat on 54.

California gained two for 39. Alaska was flat on eight.
