IPMAN ready to snap up NNPC’s refineries

Warri Refinery21 July 2013, Abuja – The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, has indicated its interest in the three Nigeria’s refineries, if government is serious in privatizing them.

Speaking yesterday at a presentation to the Senate Joint Committee on Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, National President of IPMAN, Alhaji Aminu Abdulkadir called for refurbishment of the refineries in order to have lasting stability in petroleum product supply in the country.

Abulkadir said: “If NNPC want to divest, IPMAN is interested in partnering. IPMAN want to build refinery, we want a clear cut policy on crude procurement, pricing and interest free loan from the government to be repaid back between 10-15 years”.

The IPMAN boss told the legislatures that they should not make mistake of removing the IPMAN from the proposed board of some of the agencies as it were, saying that that will be a great set back in the implementation of policies in the industry.

According to him IPMAN is one of the major stakeholders in the downstream sector and therefore it should be allowed to represent its member’s interest.
