Stakeholder canvasses 10% host community Fund in PIB

Aerial view of a community living next to an oil facility21 July 2013, Lagos – Mr Sunny Ofehe, founder of Hope for Niger Delta Campaign, HNDC, on Saturday called for the inclusion of 10 per cent Host Community Fund in the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB.

Ofehe, who made the call in a statement issued in Lagos, also urged the National Assembly to expedite action on the passage of the bill aimed at reforming the oil sector.

“The inclusion of the 10 per cent will help in the further development of the Niger Delta.

“It will also help to create more entrepreneurs, boost employment opportunities, help in the development of infrastructure and raise the per capita earning of people in the region.

The statement added that the passage of the bill would minimise youth restiveness.
