Ghana in Tano block award

Ghana+Flag19 August 2013, News Wires – Ghana’s government has approved an agreement for exploration in a deep-water block off West Africa but Parliament must still sign off on the deal.

AGR Energy and Minexco have, along with others, won the bid to own and operate the South Deepwater Tano Block.

The award was handed out to local player Ghana National Petroleum Corporation and AGM Petroleum Ghana which is a subsidiary of AGM Gibraltar, itself jointly owned by AGR, Minexco and MED Songhai Developers.

No minimum work programme or time frame for exploration was disclosed by AGM which said it won the contract following “a competitive and transparent bid process”.

In late May Tullow Oil was given the green light by Ghana’s government to proceed with development of a series of discoveries known as the Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme, or TEN, Development, in the Tano Block.
