50,000 tonne capacity Bauchi fertiliser company resumes production

Bauchi Tomatos31 October 2013, Bauchi – The Bauchi Fertiliser Company, with the capacity to produce 50,000 tonnes of fertiliser annually has resumed production, says Malam Yahaya Abdullahi, the Production Manager.

Abdullahi, who made this known when Gov Isa Yuguda paid an unscheduled visit to the company in Bauchi on Wednesday, said production resumed three days ago.

He explained that the 14-year-old company had been producing below its capacity over the years due to financial and administrative challenges.

He said that with the current government intervention in meeting the fertiliser needs of farmers in the state, the company had been revived with operation at full capacity.

“Currently, we are producing 90 tonnes of fertiliser daily and with this level of production, the company will exploit its full capacity of 50,000 tonnes per annum within the shortest period.

“Our teeming farmers can now hope for a bumper harvest both in the dry and wet seasons, with fertiliser within their door step and at affordable price.

“Because we produce it here in the state, our farmers can access it in good time and anytime they need it.”

He commended the state government for resuscitating the company, adding that with the current level of production, farmers in the state would no longer experience te problem of fertiliser access.

In his remark, Yuguda expressed satisfaction with the level of production in the company and pledged his administration’s continued support to the company.
