19 November 2013, Lagos – Nigerian independent exploration and production (E & P) company, Midwestern Oil and Gas Company Limited has attained another milestones with a recent celebration of six million man-hours loss time injury (LTI) free operation.
Also, in recognition of the company’s achievement in the area of Health Safety and Environment (HSE), the company recently received an “Africa Oil & Gas HSE of the Year Award,” in South Africa.
Speaking during the celebration of the milestone achievement in Lagos at the weekend, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Adams C. Okoene, said the achievements were a reflection of the significant progress the company had made in health, safety and environmental policies.
Okoene said the achievements also reflected the controls the company applied to all the projects and services it executed.
“Our approach has been integration of HSE at the initial/conceptual planning stages and through to completion of those activities and projects. The shareholders and management say yet another thank you to our entire dedicated workforce whose notable contributions made this milestone possible,” he said.
He charged the workers of the company to continue to adopt a proactive HSE culture that permeated the length and breadth of the company’s operations at all levels, adding that this is key ingredient to the sustenance of the company’s performance.
“My expectation going forward in the remaining weeks of 2013, 2014 and beyond is that all our supervisors and managers would continue to be role models in ensuring that our corporate life and operations are driven by sound and tested HSE principles, processes and procedures as envisioned in our HSE policies. And then we can look forward to the next milestone of seven million man-hours LTI free operation achievement,” he added.
As one of the few successful marginal field operators, Midwestern Oil and Gas Limited is the Umusagede field in oil mining lease (OML) 56.
