22 November 2013, Gombe — Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State has flagged off the N245.8million rural electrification project in Yamaltu Deba and Akko Local Government Areas of the state.
During the exercise which was held at Kufa in Yamaltu Deba, the governor said the provision of electricity is key to socio-economic development of any society.
He said it is based on that, that government purchased 50 transformers at the cost of over N110million and distributed them to communities across the state.
“The electrification of 32 villages in Chilo-Tila axis in Akko and Yamaltu Deba Local Government Areas is a clear testimony of our commitment to the electrification of our rural areas,” he said.
Some of the villages that are going to benefit from the project in Akko are: Wuro Bokki, Hanakashi, Wuro Funa, Chilo Jauro Hassan and Jauro Sambo and the communities that would benefit in Yamaltu Deba are: Jamari, Rarab kala, Tongoyel, Wuro Yerima, Bappate, Madaki Isa, Garin jibo, Gajali, Gari Tafida, Tila, Madaki Dankoli among others.
Dankwambo urged the people of the areas to protect the facilities so that they can serve them well.
