29 November 2013, Maiduguri – A consortium of companies, led by Oriented Energy Resources Plc, on Friday said that it was working on plans to embark on mass electricity generation using solar system in Borno.
The Executive Chairman, Oriented Energy Resources Plc, Alhaji Mohammed Indimi, said this in Maiduguri during a courtesy call on Gov. Kashim Shettima.
He said that the companies planned to address the problem of perennial power shortage in the state.
Indimi said other companies within the consortium were the Saudi Arabia-based Al-Qahtam and Sons Group and the Aurinka International of Spain.
He said that the objective was to use the highly-sophisticated technologies of the companies in generating cheap electricity for the residents of the state in a very short while.
Indimi said that the project would start on pilot scheme before spreading to all parts of the state.
The Chief Executive Officer of Al-Qahtam and Sons Group, Mr Tariq Mumfar and Mr Jesus Borgus of Aurinka International, said they were happy with the arrangement.
They assured the state that the arrangement would provide dividends in a very short while.
In his response, the governor commended Indimi for initiating the project and expressed his readiness to partner with the companies to achieve the success of the project.
