BW revealed on Monday that the contract for the FPSO had been extended for another six months, until the end of the second quarter of 2014.
“The extension has been agreed to secure operational continuity while joint work to detail longer term programs for investment and production is completed,” BW said in a statement.
Upstream reported in September that BW was in talks to extend the contract for the floater which is currently operating on Eni’s OML 125 where plans are in hand to significantly boost production.
The Abo FPSO can process 44,000 barrels per day of oil and compress 48.4 million cubic feet of gas per day, and has storage capacity for 930,000 barrels.
