Steer clear of oil bunkerers, JTF warns officers

JTF10 January 2014, Port Harcourt — The outgoing Commander of the Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Pulo Shield, Major-General Bata Debiro, has warned his men to be careful of illegal oil bunkerers in the Niger Delta region.

Major-General Debiro, who gave the warning yesterday while addressing personnel of the task force in Port Harcourt, expressed satisfaction with the performance of JTF in 2013, especially in Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Rivers States, and charged them to be focused and dedicated to their duties.

“You have no reason, whatsoever, to compromise with them (bunkerers). No compromise; don’t make friends with any of them. If you think because you are in Niger Delta, it is an opportunity to make it, forget it. Your efforts in the year, 2013, was excellent in fighting illegality in the Niger Delta. The president is happy with your work and wants them stopped. Nobody is happy with the stealing of oil. Let us step up and pursue these people out,” he said.
