Statoil awards monitoring contract

Statoil-in-Offshore-Mozambique-Farmout19 February 2014, News Wires – Norway’s Statoil has awarded a $2.7 million contract to Emerson Process Management for work at an offshore platform in the Norwegian North Sea.

Emerson will supply an integrated condition and performance monitoring system for the Gina Krog oil and gas platform north of the Sleipner West field.

The condition-based maintenance system will provide machinery protection, prediction and performance monitoring for the platform.

It will enable Statoil personnel based onshore to monitor the platform’s pumps, compressors and other mechanical equipment to highlight potential problems before they affect production.

Emerson said the technology would help cutting down maintenance actions to avoid shutdowns and maintain production.

The solution will include an asset performance management suite and wireless communication infrastructure to log data from the platform.
