NSCDC foils pipeline vandalism attempt, arrests three suspects

A-vandalised-pipeline10 March 2014, Abuja – The Kaduna State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has foiled an attempt to vandalise oil pipelines at Maraban-Jos in Igabi local government area of the state.

Officers of the command also arrested three suspects and recovered an unregistered 33,000 litre DAF truck, with Conoil colour from the vandals.

Briefing newsmen at the command’s office, the state Commandant of the corps, Alhaji Zakari Ibrahim Ningi said the command acted on a tip-off when information was received that vandals had invaded the area to carry out their criminal acts.

He said on sighting the NSCDC anti-vandal operatives, the vandals took to their heels and abandoned the truck and the truck upon checks was found to have two compartments filled with AGO (diesel), adding that the truck and its contents have been handed over to the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC), Kaduna, for decanting while investigation into the matter was ongoing.

He further disclosed that the three vandals were arrested in Ladduga Village in Zangon-Kataf local government and 50 gallons of PMS and over 50 empty gallons were also recovered from them.

Other items recovered from the vandals according to the commandant include two dane guns and two Bajaj motor-cycles without registration numbers.
