NECA to establish microfinance bank

Segun Osinowo, DG, NECA27 June 2014, Lagos – The Director General of the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA), Segun Osinowo, has informed that NECA’s Network of Entrepreneurial Women (NNEW) will establish its own Microfinance Bank by next year as part of the renewed efforts to boosting the promotion of women entrepreneurship in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the informal sector.

Osinowo, while reviewing the outcome of the NNEW 2014 conference with the theme “Agriculture the pivot for economic development in Nigeria” on Wednesday, told newsmen in Lagos that for the informal sector to thrive, NECA has put in place necessary initiatives that would support women entrepreneurs, especially NNEW members to be wealth creators by leveraging on the business opportunities in the country.

He said “As part of the renewed efforts to boosting the promotion of women entrepreneurship in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the informal sector, NECA’s Network of Entrepreneurial Women (NNEW) will move into the next phase of the evolution by establishing its own Microfinance Bank by next year which will be to some extent address the basic challenge of their financial challenges”.
