Eko DISCO shocks Amuwo residents

..Sustains 24-hour power supply and counting

Kunle Kalejaye 26 January 2015, Sweetcrude, Lagos – Residents of Amuwo Odofin, Lagos have reacted with absolute shock and bewilderment at 24-hour sustained power supply in the area, a rare occurrence in this part.
Power1A resident in the area, who called SweetcrudeReports, drew the attention of this reporter to the development and asked to know whether everything was alright.
He described the development as rather unusual since, according to him, residents cannot recall the last time they enjoyed 24- hour power supply.
SweetcrudeReports checks revealed that ‎Nigeria’s largest power generation plant, Egbin thermal station, Unit 6, has come back on stream with 220megawatts.
The Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo, who confirmed the return of that section of the plant to journalists at the weekend, ‎said the additional 220mw would boost power supply in Lagos there by improving the socio-economic activities in the state and the south-west region.
“With the unit now generating at full capacity, Egbin is currently in the final stage of a bilateral agreement to supply the 220mw to Ikeja Electricity Distribution Plc, Ikeja Electric and Eko Distribution Company”.
The minister said the development will yield ‎about 16 percent additional power supply to Lagos, the nation’s commercial nerve centre.
