23 April 2015, News Wires – Statoil has kicked off drilling of an exploration well targeting additional resources at its under-development Gina Krog field off Norway.
The 15/6-13 probe at the Gina Krog East 3 prospect is being drilled by Songa Trym in a water depth of 114 metres in Statoil-operated production licences 029B and 303 at the North Sea field.
The well, which aims to prove up more resources in the Hugin sandstone formation, has an estimated duration of 76 days, with an optional sidetrack that could take an additional 30 days.
The field, due to be brought on stream in the first quarter of 2017, currently holds 225 million barrels of oil equivalent in oil and gas reserves.
Statoil operates the field with a 58.7% stake, with partners Total (38%) and Det Norske (3.3%).
