14 August 2015, News Wires – Frank Chapman is quitting as chairman of liquefied natural gas carrier owner Golar LNG less than a year after taking up the role.
The former chief executive of UK gas giant BG Group is stepping aside in order to free up more time to focus on other interests, the ship owner, controlled by Seadrill owner John Fredriksen, said.
Golar’s board has nominated former Ensco chairman and current Apache board menber Dan Rabun to succeed Chapman, who will not seeking re-election.
Chapman said of his departure: “It has been a very busy year for Golar which has seen much progress on strategy, business development and communications with our shareholders.
“The growing list of (Golar floating LNG) business development opportunities serve to confirm the very significant potential of the strategy, where the company currently enjoys an advantaged competitive position.”
Kate Blankenship has also decided not to stand for re-election as a director, with Norwegian ship owner Niels Stolt-Nielsen looking to be nominated.
