18 August 2015, News Wires – Bowleven has kicked off drilling of a second wildcat on its Bomono permit onshore Cameroon targeting the Moambe prospect, having made a strike with the first probe.
The well at Moambe is being drilled about two kilometres east of the initial well that resulted in a discovery at the Zingana prospect.
It is targeting multiple sands in a previously undrilled Paleocene (Tertiary) three-way dip fault closure and will be sunk to a depth of about 1620 metres, the London-listed explorer said in a statement.
Meanwhile, petrophysical evaluation work is still ongoing on the Zingana find made last month, Bowleven added.
The company, which holds a 100% operating interest in the 2328 square-kilometre block in the Douala basin, intends to drill, log and evaluate both wells before determining a testing programme.
