02 October 2015, Sweetcrude, Lagos – Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, were Friday evening ransacking the Asokoro, Abuja residence of the former Petroleum Minister, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, who was arrested earlier Friday in London by the UK Police.
She was reported arrested for offences bordering on fraud and bribery along with four others, whose identities are still unknown.
Reports said the EFCC operatives were in the former Minister’s Abuja residence in search of incriminating documents.
EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, could not be reached Friday for comment on the development as his mobile telephone line was unavailable.
Calls to the telephone line continuously indicated that the phone was out of network coverage or has been switched off.
Meanwhile, Joe Abuku, spokesman for the UK High Commission in Abuja, confirmed that five persons were arrested by the UK Police, but did not provide further details.
Diezani was allegedly arrested by the UK Police at the instance of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, which has been probing her activities while in office.
