11 March 2016, Lagos – The gains recorded by 27 stocks on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Wednesday boosted the NSE market capitalisation by N45bn.
The market capitalisation closed on Wednesday at N8.904tn, higher than N8.859tn recorded after the close of trading on Tuesday.
A total of 214.951 million shares valued at N1.354bn exchanged hands in 3,327 deals.
The NSE All-Share Index also went up to 25,885.31 basis points from 25,755.01 basis points.
The highest index point recorded in the course of trading was 25,890.94 while the lowest and the average were put at 25,755.01 and 25,833.53 basis points, respectively.
Oando Plc, Tiger Branded Consumer Goods Plc, FCMB Group Plc, Okomu Oil Palm Plc and United Capital Plc emerged as the top five gainers.
Oando shares closed at N4.44 from N4.03, gaining N0.41 (10.17 per cent) while those of Tiger Branded Consumer Goods gained N0.20 (9.66 per cent) to close at N2.27 from N2.07.
FCMB shares also appreciated by N0.06 (7.89 per cent) to close at N0.82 from N0.76 while those of Okomu Oil recorded N1.50 (five per cent) gain to close at N31.50 from N30.
United Capital share price also rose to N1.68 from N1.60, gaining N0.08 (five per cent).
Other gainers were Nascon Allied Industries Plc, Airline Services and Logistics Plc, Honeywell Flour Mill Plc, NEM Insurance Company Nigeria Plc, Champion Breweries Plc, Access Bank Plc, Africa Prudential Registrars Plc, Sterling Bank Plc, Wema Bank Plc, Fidson Healthcare Plc, Unilever Nigeria Plc, Flour mills Nigeria Plc, Zenith Bank Plc and Unity Bank Plc.
Diamond Bank Plc, AIICO Insurance Plc, Skye Bank Plc, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Fidelity Bank Plc, Lafarge Africa Plc, Dangote Cement Plc and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc also appeared on the gainers’ table.
In all, 12 companies recorded losses in their share prices. Beta Glass Company Plc, May & Baker Nigeria Plc, Nigeria-German Chemicals Plc, Custodian and Allied Plc and PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc emerged as the top five losers.
Other losers were United Bank for Africa, FBN Holdings Plc, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc, Livestock Feeds Plc, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated Plc, Eterna Plc and Guinness Nigeria Plc.
Beta Glass shares depreciated by N2.50 (five per cent) to close at N47.50 from N50 while those of May & Baker went down by N0.05 (five per cent) to close at N0.95 from N1.
Nigeria-German Chemicals share price also fell to N4.67 from N4.91, losing N0.24 (4.48 per cent) while that of Custodian and Allied depreciated by N0.10 (2.56 per cent) to close at N3.80 from N3.90.
