14 June 2016, Abuja — The Hydro Electricity Power Producing Area Development Commission, HYPPADEC, is to get N70 million for its full take off ,in this fiscal year even as the bill aimed at amending the act establishing the commission has passed first reading.
The senator representing Niger East, Senator David Umaru disclosed this yesterday in Minna at a news conference to interface with his constituency on his achievement in the past one year in the senate.
He disclosed that with close collaboration with the senators from the HYPPADEC member states the commission will get N70 million in this year’s budget for the full take-off of the commission.
He stated that he had also moved a motion on the fund accruing to the commission arising from the activities of the generating stations with a view to start getting funds for the activities of the commission when it finally takes off.
According to the senator , a bill for an act to amend the HYPPADEC was part of the five bills , four motions, and three petitions that he had initiated and introduced in the past one year in the senate.
Other bills , David Umaru said he initiated were a bill for an act to establish the Federal Capital Territory borderline community development , a bill to amend the Federal Capital Act.
