01 July 2016, Sweetcrude, Lagos — Nigeria’s Federal Government distribution road-map for Liquefied Petroleum Gas, LPG also known as cooking will be ready in the third quarter of 2016, an official said.
Executive Director, Supply and Distribution of Pipelines and Product Marketing Company, PPMC Mr. Justine Ezeala who dropped the hint in Lagos said in-house work done by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC’s subsidiary for effective LPG distribution national currently await ministerial approval.
Mr Ezeala explained that when ministerial consent is given to PPMC’s in-house work, the distribution road-map will be unveiled, hopefully in the third quarter to this year.
Beside PPMC’s in-house work, Mr. Ezeala noted that they are also working with Nigeria LPG Club and all other LPG operators to develop a more robust roadmap which will be presented to the Federal Government.
He said issues affecting LPG business will be addressed which include berthing of LPG vessels, operations constraint, organisational plan, and how best cooking gas can reach everybody.
Mr. Ezeala noted that if LPG dealers are gets what is required to do their business effectively, the multiplier effect will be the creation of more jobs and positive impact on the economy.
The PPMC Executive Director, Supply and Distribution noted that when these issues are presented to the government, addressed, and get Presidential approval, it will usher in a new era of LPG business.
“If the government is supportive of the changes we’ve, done and once we get presidential approval and implement it, we will see a totally new LPG business in the country. Hopefully next quarter it is something we will go public with,” Mr. Ezeala said.
