Mkpoikana Udoma 08 March 2017, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt – The Rivers State Government has applauded the recent directive by the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, that oil multinationals should relocate their operational headquarters from Lagos to their host communities in the Niger Delta.

Rivers State Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Dr. John Bazia, in an exclusive interview, said the directive by the Acting President was a step in the right direction, adding that Port Harcourt should be made both the administrative and operational headquarters of Nigeria’s oil and gas and not Lagos or any other part of the country.
Bazia explained that the society can never move forward when there is injustice and unequal regards to people, as represented by the Nigeria’s government treatment to the oil producing communities of the Niger Delta.
“It is a very good development because a situation where they get their crude oil here (Niger Delta) while their headquarters is somewhere else is morally wrong.
“Let me use this opportunity to thank the Acting President because he has done the right thing. The Society can only move forward when people own up and say the truth and do what is just and fair to all,” he said.
