Fuel subsidy fraud: Oil marketer jailed 10 years

16 March 2017, Sweetcrude, Lagos -An oil marketer has been jailed 10 years by  an Ikeja High Court over alleged N963.7 million fuel subsidy fraud.

Justice Lateefa Okunnu, in her ruling, convicted Rowaye Jubril and his company, Brila Energy Limited of a 13 count charge offence proffered against them by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The judge sentenced Jubril to ten years imprisonment on count one. The convict was also sentenced to eight years each on counts 2 to 13.

Justice Okunnu ordered that the sentences would run concurrently and commenced from date of judgement. The trial judge also made an order of restitution, asking Jubril’s company to refund N963.7 million to the federal government.
