PHEDC celebrates International Women’s Day, eulogises 500 female employees

Mkpoikana Udoma 17 March 2017, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt – The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHEDC, has expressed appreciation to all its female staff members to mark the International Women’s Day.

It praised them “for their resilience, determination, bravery and immense contribution to the growth of the management of the company”.

The Chief Executive Officer, PHEDC, Mr. Jay McCoskey, while commemorating the day, acknowledged that PHEDC would not have attained its current height but for the contributions of the women.
McCoskey said the company was pleased with the  milestone of achievements from the women staff in the organisation, and also disclosed that the company had over 500 female staff members in its four states of operation.
‘‘We doff our hats to the women of PHEDC as we celebrate this 2017 International Women’s Day.
“We cannot be where we are today but for your efforts. On behalf of the management, I congratulate all the women and wish you a more rewarding year ahead in PHEDC,” McCoskey said.
Similarly, the Chief Operating Officer of the distribution company, Engr. JohnKingsley Achife, recounted challenging situations in the company, where women staff have proved themselves beyond expectation, adding that in return, the company has rewarded them by entrusting them with positions occupied by their male counterparts.
According to him, “In the history of this organisation, women have been entrusted with challenging situations that their male counterparts shy away from and they have proven themselves capable.
‘To this end, the PHEDC women have earned their place in the Company.
“Women have occupied very senior managerial positions here; they are Heads of departments, Heads of Integrated Business Centres, etc. We are very pleased with their milestone of achievements and we expect more.”
In response on behalf of the female staffers, the Head Financial Operations, Ms. Florence Esanubi, commended the management for celebrating women on their day, and pledged to do more to emphasise the impacts of women in the organisation.
