03 April 2017, Sweetcrude, Abuja – Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Maikanti Baru, says the Federal Government would be organising the operators of illegal refineries in the Niger Delta region into consortia.

According to Baru, who spoke at the 53rd International Conference and Exhibition of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society, NMGS, in Abuja, each of the consortia would refine 1,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

He said the plan to recognise the illegal refineries was aimed at properly integrating the youths in the region with a view to arresting criminality in the area.

He maintained that forming the youths into consortia to set up 1,000 barrels per day modular refineries would also create jobs.
