25 May 2017, Sweetcrude, Lagos – Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has blamed the inefficiencies in the maritime sector on private sector operators, challenging them not to attribute the failure of the sector on the government.

How far have we succeeded from the point when we privatised the aviation and maritime sectors?” the queried as he spoke at the Government Meets Business forum of the Institute of Directors in Lagos.

Speaking on the aviation sector, he said “the government is coming back to take over the airlines through the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria,” adding, “You say we are a failure, but the private sector has not done well like they need to”.

The minister also spoke on the poor state of the access roads to the Lagos ports, pledging to assist in ensuring early rehabilitation of the roads to boost business at the ports.
