Petrol price drops by 15% in February- NBS

14 May 2018, Sweetcrude, Lagos — Average price paid by consumers for premium motor spirit (petrol) increased by 15.1% year-on-year and – 9.6% month-on-month to N172.5 in February 2018 from N190.9 in January 2018, latest statistics by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS has disclosed.

According to the data released on Monday, states with the highest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Plateau (N206.82), Osun (N201.29) & Edo (N200.83). States with the lowest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Katsina (N145.00), Abuja (N145.00) & Kogi (N147.06).

Meanwhile, the average price paid by consumers for automotive gas oil (diesel) decreased by 1.00% month-on-month and – 10.86% year-on-year to N204.35 in April 2018 from N206.41 in March 2018, while states with the highest average price of diesel were Taraba (N250.00) Adamawa (N227.50) and Sokoto (N224.00).

States with the lowest average price of diesel were Oyo (N191.28), Delta (N190.77) and Bayelsa (N188.33).
