Nigeria imports 5-billion litres of PMS in first quarter 2018

25 May 2018, Sweetcrude, Lagos — The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, has revealed that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC imported over 5 billion litres of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, popularly known as petrol in the first quarter of 2018.

According to newly released data by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, the Corporation imported 5.67 billion litres of petrol in the said period.

Further statistics showed that while 954.47 million litres of automotive gas oil, AGO was also imported, 66.914 million litres of household kerosene, HHK and 5122.067 million litres of aviation turbine kerosene, ATK was imported into the country in Q1 2018.

The months of March 2018 recorded the highest volumes of premium motor spirits, PMS imported into the country at 2.41 billion litres while the highest volume of automotive gas oil, AGO and household kerosene, HHK were imported in February and January 2018 respectively.

Statewide distribution of truck-out volume for Q1 2018, showed that 4.89 billion of PMS, 1.24 billion litres of AGO, 201.49 million litres of kerosene and 150.81 million litres of aviation turbine kerosene were distributed nationwide during the period under review
