10 June 2018, Sweetcrude, Lagos — The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, has eventually added Mojec International to list of Meter Assets Providers, MAP.

The new move by the commission comes after SweetcrudeReports’ report on how the company was not included on the first list of 22 licensees granted the ‘No Objection’ for MAP.

In a fresh list published by NERC on Sunday, seen by SweetcrudeReports, the commission said it had granted another eight firm the ‘No Objection’ license.

However, Mojec’s name was still not included on the list.

“NERC Grants 8 Additional ‘No Objection’ for MAP@NERCNG has granted 8 additional ‘No Objection’ to successful applicants to participate in the procurement process for the meter in the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry”.

“The 8 newly approved ‘No Objection’ holders are Carlin Concept Intern’l Nig Ltd; Onenation Energy Platform Nig Ltd; Armese Consulting Ltd; CWG Plc; Damtaq Ltd; Powerup Projects Intern’l Limited; Esinos Resources Intern’l Ltd; Techadvance Ltd,” NERC said in the first statement.

But, in another twist, the Commission in a separate statement, said Mojec had been added to the list, bringing the newly approved licensees to 9.

“Mojec International joins the list of No Objection to make new awardee 9 bringing total on the list of No Objection to participate in meter procurement process 31.”

With the additional 9 firms, the total number of licenses granted so far hits 31.

These firms will participate in meter procurement and bid process with the electricity distribution companies of their choice.

The successful bidder from procurement process will then obtain the MAP permit from the commission after entering into Metering Service Agreement, MSA with electricity distribution companies.

Services to be provided by MAP licensees will among others include financing, procurement, installation, repair and replacement of electricity meters, according to the MAP Regulations 2018.

“Intending investors have opportunities to apply for @NERCNG No Objection to participate in meter procurement process as it is a continuous process”, the statement read.

How Mojec was dumped from the first MAP list
Last month, NERC had released a list of 22 firms granted ‘No Objection’ licenses to participate in the meter procurement process after the approval of the MAP Regulation 2018, however, SweetcrudeReports found that popular meter manufacturer, Mojec, had been dropped from the list.

Established in 1985 and ranked among top three Nigerian companies operating in the power sector, Mojec has worked with almost all electricity distribution companies in Nigeria as meter manufacturer, likewise in power generation and transmission sector.
