Delta youths protest against plan to relocate NGC

07 January 2019, Sweetcrude, Warri, Delta State — Youths of Delta State have protested alleged plans to relocate the Nigeria Gas Company limited from Warri.

The youths who were very peaceful carried placards with inscriptions, “ we say no to the relocation of NGC from Warri to any other place”, “Warri is peaceful.” “International oil companies should bring their headquarters to the Niger Delta”.

Work and economic activities were not disrupted at the gas company while the protest lasted.

President Ijaw Youth Council, Mr. Eric Omare and the President Itsekiri National Youth Council, Mr. Weyinmi Agbateyinino told journalists that youths of the state will continue to kick against the proposed relocation, adding that the federal government should allow peace reign

Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Mr. Freeman Fregene was around for a meeting with the management of the NGC. He told the protesters before heading for the meeting that he came when he heard of their protest, pleading that the state government will meet with the management of the gas company to know if the alleged plan was true.
