This latest announcement by the National Assembly leadership contradicts the earlier date the House of Representatives set for the passage of the budget.
He noted that, “Increasingly, governments around the world are promoting initiatives in transparency. Governments that are open and transparent are more accountable to their citizens and are less likely to be corrupt.”
Dogara disclosed further that both the Senate and the House of Representatives have agreed that the budget will be presented on April 19 and passed on April 24.
He said, “The budget process is on and I can’t tell you this is the specific date it is going to end. We are working very hard on it and we want to assure Nigerians that at the end of the day, we will have a budget that will serve the purpose of Nigerians.”
