He added that, “If the National Assembly succeeds in passing all the four bills and the executive signs them all before politicking for 2019 starts, that will be a solid achievement indeed. It is possible. Please do this for Nigeria.”

The PIGB aims to establish the Nigerian petroleum regulatory commission as a one-stop regulator that will be responsible for licensing, monitoring, supervising petroleum operations, as well as enforcing industry laws, regulations and standards.
“We were also assured that fuel subsidy had come to an end. From recent developments on this subject, except the executive adduces compelling reasons why the reverse is the case, we will be justified in feeling betrayed. As a parliament, we must unravel the causes of this scarcity and the alleged re-introduction of fuel subsidy,” Dogara added.
He said, “The House is concerned that there was negotiation between TCN and the World Bank of the sum of $468 million IDA for the proposed Nigeria Electricity Transmission Project (NETAP). The project scheduled for August 29 had been postponed due to changes made to the staffing of the Project Management Unit (PMU) for World Bank-assisted projects in the TCN.”

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, who read the letter at plenary on Thursday, noted that President Buhari requested to present the budget to a joint session of the National Assembly at 2pm on Tuesday.
