About 417 megawatts (MW) was not generated due to unavailability of transmission infrastructure, while 290MW was not generated due to high frequency resulting from unavailability of distribution infrastructure.
Obasanjo said, “That President Buhari didn’t sign the free trade agreement in Kigali is disappointing; I hope he signs it before it is too late.”
“In many parts of the country connected to the grid, citizens’ feedback is positive, even though all the problems are not solved. Citizens acknowledge more power in dry weather, reduced hours of running their generators and reduction in fuel (diesel and petrol) purchase to power generators.”
He said, “With this installation, the capacity has been raised to 220MVA. Similarly, the Apo 132/33kv substation has been raised from 190MVA to 290MVA.”
“Nigerians still consume about 300 million litres of diesel every month and most of this is used to power generators. At the same time, there is about 2,000MW of electricity generating capacity that is unutilized.”
“It is our belief that state concerns can be addressed by the instrumentality of the recently inaugurated Mining Council and the MIREMCO provisions in the Mining Act in order to avert any constitutional crisis that may likely arise as a result of any suggestion or proposal to remove mining from the exclusive legislative list.”
Fashola said, “The Azura power plant will give us another 450MW; I know that we will also get 10MW of wind power from Katsina State. I know that we will get 115MW from Gbari and 30MW from Kashimbila.”
The president also said the current minimum wage being used in the country has already expired.
