The committee said, “Many parastatals are unwilling to submit their audited accounts without being compelled and this is in violation of their establishment Acts. Some parastatals do not take accountability in public expenditure seriously.”
“You can’t just dip your hands and think it is a free money. You can only access the money through very clear guidelines provided by PENCOM and this can be done through the money market because we also know the situation of borrowing and volatility in the industries.”
He said that the government had presented a draft for an Organic Budget Law to the National Assembly, which when passed, would ensure punctual drafting and approval of subsequent proposed budgets within a stipulated time.
