Adebiyi recalled that the electricity distribution companies (Discos) were yet to honour the agreements they signed with the Federal Government in November 2013 to issue prepaid metres to all Nigeria consumers within 18 months, as failure to do so has in recent times led to over-billing of customers, making them pay for darkness.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria should stop any action plan that will further give monies to non-performing Privatized electricity distribution companies (Discos) in Nigeria while we call on all African governments to massively invest in energy mix of hydro, solar and nuclear to drive Industrialization.”

Part of the sack letter reads that, “We regret to notify you that unfortunately your performance, conduct and competence level were found quite lower than expected standard. Consequently, we regret to inform you that your services are no longer required with effect from 1st February, 2017.”
