“The intervention fund has all-in single digit interest rate of 8 per cent for loans extended to Nigerian oil and gas service providers and all-in single digit interest rate of 5 per cent for loans extended to community contractors,” he stated.
“As social partner and major stakeholder in the sector, we can attest that instead of the amendment, the Gas Master Plan unveiled under former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, be given proper implementation. This can optimise the Nigeria’s gas resource potential, end gas flaring in the country and bring gas revenue earnings to level up with that of crude oil.”
Adio said the missing fund was in addition to another 21 billion dollars confirmed crude oil sale, the proceed of which was not remitted to the Federation Account by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) between 2011 and 2014.
“Considering the difficulties the government has been facing securing as little as $1billion foreign loan, recovering these funds will significantly enhance government’s fiscal position in the short term,” Mr. Adio said.
